Going to your very first model casting call will be a nervous and exciting event at the same time. It is important that you step into your desired career field as soon as possible and begin to go to casting calls if you are interested in being a professional model. If you want to get hired as a model, getting your face out there is 90% of the job. Before your first casting call, you want to make sure that you are prepared. Here are three things that you need to bring to your first casting call as a model.
A complete portfolio
Taking a photoshoot or two complete with headshots as well as artistic pictures is a necessity for any model. Before you start to go to any casting calls, you will need a professional portfolio. You should have a good selection of photographs of you wearing different styles, with different hair and makeup, and in a number of different poses. Have the photographs edited professionally and then printed. You can print your own photographs via any photo printer, just make sure that they are a good size and viewable for the company or panel.
Heels and a change of clothing
Heels are an important part of any outfit that you will be wearing. Walking in heels will be necessary as a model, so you should bring along heels that you can easily glide in. Along with the heels, bring a change of clothing in the event that you need to wear something that fits more on brand with the casting call company. Some will have wracks of clothing that they will have you change into, while others will take photographs of you inside of the clothing that you are wearing currently. Having a dressy outfit and a dress down outfit along with layers, such as a sweater or jacket, offer you diverse styling choices.
An elevator pitch
In the business world, an elevator pitch is a short detail of you and your work history that you can easily give to a higher up or hiring manager. For a model, your elevator pitch should be a persuasive detail of your abilities and your past work experience as a model. A confident pitch, along with a great portfolio and presence will be the difference in you getting a call back after a casting or blending into the crowd. Practice a two to three sentence pitch so that you can say it confidently and with vigor at your first casting call.
